WINDOWS 10 MAY 2019 UPDATE: NEW FEATURES + HOW TO UPDATE


In this article, I show you some of the new features and changes made in Windows 10 May Update. Changes were made in settings, search and cortana, Windows Shell, Apps and more. These changes will allow you to learn many new things and may even be useful in every day.

The new features that are in Windows 10 May update in version 1903 is:

Search options

  • Search features a new landing page for recent activities and a search-category UI along the top.
  • Cortana will now start automatically listening when you click on its icon in the taskbar.
  • The new "top apps" area is present that displays your most-used apps for quick launching.

Settings

  • Homepage has a new personalized banner at the top which provides quick access to different features.
  • Users can now customize the Windows Shell.
  • You can now use the Settings app to configure advanced Ethernet IP settings.
  • Task Manager will now tell you which apps are scaling per-monitor or by system.
  • You can now set up a security key directly in Settings.
  • Created a new search mode to faster performancing.
  • A new troubleshooting system to fix PC errors.
  • Microsoft will now recommend a fix when Windows detects an issue.
  • You can now adjust the size of the cursor.
  • You can create a new password-less Microsoft Accounts with just a phone number.
  • Windows will now reserve up to 7GB of disk space for updates.
  • You can now drag new fonts directly into the Settings fonts page to install them.
  • The Windows Insider Program page has been updated with a new user interface.
  • And many more new features..

Windows Shell

  • A new light theme is available which turns the taskbar, Start menu, and other areas of the Windows Shell white.
  • The login screen is modifide.
  • The Emoji Panel is now drag and drop.
  • You can now customize quick actions directly in the Action Center.
  • A new brightness slider is now featured in the quick action area.
  • The default wallpaper has been updated with lighter colors.
  • Snip & Sketch now supports window snip for easy screenshotting of app windows.
  • And much more...

Apps features

  • The new Office app is present and provides quick access to your recent documents and Office web apps.
  • The "Settings and more ..." menu in Edge can now break out of the app window.

Other changes

  • Microsoft is reworking how to download and install games from the Microsoft Store.
  • A microphone icon is now present in the system tray when your microphone is in use.
  • Pressing F4 when in Registry Editor will now place the caret at the end of the address bar, expanding the autocomplete dropdown.
  • Indic Phonetic keyboards are now available for PC.
  • More symbols are now available on the touch keyboard.
  • The modern print dialog now supports in a light theme.
  • The touch keyboard will now invisibly dynamically adjust hit points for letters based on how you type.
  • You can set a default tab in the Task Manager.
  • You can resize the cursor via a slider, with up to 15 different sizes.
  • Windows 10 Home users will now have a light mode enabled by default after a clean install. Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise continues to use dark mode enabled by default.
  • Start is now its own process and will no longer go to sleep.
  • This release includes improved RAW image format support.
  • Win32 apps now run within Windows Mixed Reality.

How to Update to Windows 10 ver.1903

1.If you want to install the update now, select go to Start -> Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Update and then select Check for updates. If updates are available, install them.


2.If version 1903 is not offered automatically through Check for updates, you can get it manually through the Update Assistant.
